Over the years I’ve spent a lot of time outdoors.
Sometimes walking, sometimes paddling, camping, caving, you name it. Sometimes alone, sometimes with others. Sometimes in iconic national parks, sometimes just beyond the back fence. Sometimes with an ambitious objective, sometimes just to see what I discover. Sometimes for a few hours, sometimes for a few weeks.
Most of the time carrying a camera.

Taking photos and venturing into the outdoors were instilled into me from a young age while growing up in Tasmania/lutruwita. I’m unsure which came first as both these pursuits have been intertwined for so many years now. It seems partaking in one, motivates me for the other and vice versa. Today I can’t imagine one without the other and together they’ve consumed a large portion of my time, thoughts, dreams and played a big part in many of the highlights of my life thus far.

Wild areas capture my curiosity. I love maps, being creative with route plans and working with the weather to discover new places. I’m fascinated with how the landscape changes with the seasons, the weather conditions and the light. This is what then draws me back to those places again and again.

I hope you find my photos convey not only what I’ve seen or what’s caught my attention but also why I do it, what I’ve experienced and what I’ve learnt.
